Fall Party

On Saturday, we had a small get together with some of our closest friends.  I wasn't going to write a post about it because there aren't any pictures, but then I realized that just means I was having so much fun I forgot to take some.  I think that does, in fact, deserve to be included with the other memories I'm trying to preserve by writing this blog.

I spent a couple of hours prepping on Saturday morning followed by a quick clean-up of the house.  We were in great shape until the girls decided not to nap unless we were holding them.  Although I had some more stuff to get done, Mate and I decided Mia and Ava's nap was more important.  This resulted in a last minute scramble and letting go of a few of the decorative touches I had planned.  In the end, none of that mattered and everyone seemed to have a good time.

David- Thanks for driving all the way from Columbus just to spend time with us.
Kristina- We loved spending extra time with you! Thanks for teaching us all how to play Jungle Speed.
Katie & Michael- Sorry you were inadvertently injured during the game.
Corey- It was great to see you after so long.  We enjoyed meeting Quinn.
Phil- Loved our chat in the kitchen!
J.P.- I enjoyed catching up.  Good luck with the new house!
Dan- I am so glad you came.  I hope your new job is just what you've been looking for.
Bryan- Thanks for stopping by for a bit even though you had other commitments.
Rachael- There's never enough time for us to talk about everything.  Next time. . .

For those of you who couldn't make it, we missed you!

Pinterest gave me quite a few ideas for the party.  Two of them that I was particularly excited about were Apple Pie Pops and Apple Cider Sangria.  Here are the pops:

Pie crust, apple filling and popsicle sticks.  It doesn't get much easier than that.  Here is some advice: Do not let any of the popsicle sticks hang over the edge of your baking sheet.  I was proud of myself for fitting them all on one sheet, but that turned out to be a bad idea.  Some of the sticks ended up getting discolored and didn't look very nice.
