I have been planning to start potty-training the girls after their 2nd birthday for months. As we quickly approach that date, I'm re-thinking my plans. Last week, we bought each of the girls their own potty chair and set them up right away. Since transitioning from bottles to cups, pacifiers to no pacifiers and cribs to beds all went well, we were hoping this would follow suit. All the books/articles say girls are usually ready around 2 1/2, but some kids figure it out sooner. We decided it was worth a try given baby #3 will increase diaper duty around here. What I quickly realized is that the girls really aren't ready. Well, let's be honest, I'm not sure that I'm ready. Who wants to keep dressing and undressing two toddlers just to put them on the potty and have one cry and the other run around naked? Not this lady. I'm too pregnant for that nonsense. While there is no guarantee that this will be any easier in a few months, it's a risk we're willing to take. For now, we're just going to enjoy the holidays, their birthday and the last weeks of being a family of four. After the girls get used to having a new baby around here, we'll give potty-training a try. In the meantime, feel free to share your tips and tricks.
