Kid's Holiday Party

Recently, I had the pleasure of planning the annual Kid's Holiday Party for the Twins Club.  Last year's event was great, so I was a little bit nervous about keeping the kiddos entertained and happy. There was quite a bit of crafting involved in the preparation which, of course, didn't bother me.  The menu is always kept simple and I basically followed what had been done in past years with a few changes.  I am so thankful to be part of such a wonderful group of moms and was glad to host the party for their families.  I was a bit busy and Mate had his hands full with the girls, so the pictures aren't the best, but I think you'll get the idea.

Menu:
Santa's Sausage Biscuits
Blitzen's Bagels
Dancer's Danish
Donner's Donuts
Ho Ho Ho Hot Chocolate
Dasher's Drinks (juice boxes, milk, etc)
Comet's Coffee
Prancer's Puffs (for the little ones)
I hot glued three mini candy canes together to create a stand to label each item
I had five activity stations set up around the outside of the room.  Each station had framed directions to help keep things running smoothly:

Letters to Santa: fill-in-the-blank letters, envelopes, stickers for stamps and a mailbox I covered with scrapbook paper.
Activity pages I had left over from my teaching days and a foam picture-frame craft from Oriental Trading
Snowball Toss: I had a snowman from my classroom that was perfect for this game.  I cut a hole in the center, glued it to a blue presentation board, added felt snow, crepe paper snowflakes, and some fabric to catch the "snowballs"
Felt Christmas Trees: This was intended for the younger kids, but many of the older ones liked it, too.  There was lots of tracing and cutting involved so I'm glad they had fun decorating.
Reindeer Food: There were three bowls set up (1 with oats, 1 with sugar, and 1 with green sprinkles).  The kids mixed a scoop of each together to create a treat for the reindeer.  I made tags with the recipe and directions to sprinkle the food outside on Christmas Eve.
Santa showed up and gave all the kids presents.  My girls wouldn't let us take a picture, but we tried.
Decorate a Dad: At the end of the party, these brave dads let the kids attempt to wrap them like presents.
Besides a coffee pot that didn't cooperate at first, everything went relatively smoothly.  Now, I better start thinking of new ideas for next year . . .

Some of the ideas were my own, others were found on Pinterest and can be found here.
