Twins Day

Well, we made it through our first Twins Day Festival.  It was fun, but a little hot to be carrying around babies.

Last night, we went to an event just for twins and their families.  It was a little overwhelming at first, but we made it over to the registration table.  A woman in line warned us that twin babies get a lot of attention.  We're used to the attention, so we didn't think much of what she had said.  Then it started.  Person after person asked if they could take pictures of our girls.  Quite a few other sets of twins wanted to be photographed holding Mia and Ava, too.  We're not opposed to any of this, but it definitely caught us off guard.  Yeah, I know we were warned.  It's not everyday people want pictures of your children, though.  Anyway, we mingled with other families, ate, and then took some time to walk around.  It really is interesting to see so many twins in one place.

Today, we headed over to the festival.  It was hot and humid, so we tried our best to stay in the shade.  The theme was Circus Time, so we tried to dress the girls accordingly.  Again, there was plenty of picture taking and mingling.  We had the girls participate in a most-look-alike contest, but they didn't win.  The competitive part of me wanted to win, but I am actually glad that the girls have slight differences.  I'd like other people to be able to tell them apart, not just us.  It was great to spend some time with Jackie, Adam and their twins Jackson & Riley.  Jackie and I were due within a few days of each other and it has been nice going through all of this at the same time.  I was also happy to see a friend from my dance school with her twin girls.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to visit because Mate and I were anxious to get Mia and Ava out of the heat.

We're thankful to live so close, since we didn't stay too long.  I'm glad we went and will look forward to taking the girls next year.
