Its Mother’s Day once again and
that means I get to make a cameo on Tina’s blog to express just how much she
means to us here in the Soric household.
It has been a year in which she continued to amaze with her devotion to
our children, resilience to changing living situations and her tireless
generosity. Never have I seen someone
able to be up before the sun, selflessly caring for and teaching her children,
managing the bustling calendar for her family, leading an organization of her
peers, building a new home, and being the last Soric to rest her head on a
pillow before she does it all over again the next day. Oh, and did I mention she can keep a smile on
her face while doing all of those things?
There were so many moments this year where it would have been perfectly
acceptable for most normal people to collapse in a heap from pure exhaustion
but she kept her head up, kept our family together and kept her sense of humor,
as well.
Being a mother is a job that
requires dedication on an incredible level, even more so when you devote
yourself to it full-time. In most other
professions, that kind of selflessness gets you awards, accolades and
promotions. Instead, we choose to honor
the mothers around us each year on Mother’s Day with brunches and homemade
cards. We try to cram a year’s worth of
gratitude into a single day and it never quite feels like we’ve fully expressed
how thankful we are for the moms in our lives.
We all know they deserve the world for what they do for us and we could
never have gotten to where we are today without them. Tina, I know that no amount of words can
adequately express it, but know that you mean the world to the rest of us. You are the foundation upon which this family
is built and the driving force behind what makes us better people. Thank you for everything.
Mate
