Hoping for a Healthy Holiday

My goal this past weekend was to squeeze in as much holiday goodness as possible.  Between Thanksgiving being so late this year and spending a week in Florida, we've had a limited amount of time to enjoy all things Christmas. We were off to a great start, until I started to feel really nauseous.  Somewhere between gingerbread house making and hot chocolate drinking, I knew we were in trouble.  Reluctantly, I had to cancel my plans to attend a holiday party, throw on a Christmas movie for the girls and leave Mate in charge so I could go to bed.  After a restless night of sleep, the worst was behind me and we were able to squeeze in a little more fun:
Sisters
Picnic lunch by the Christmas Tree
Ava ate more candy then she put on her house, but we'll still call it a success
Winter walk around our neighborhood to look at the lights

Unfortunately, Mate woke up this morning feeling about as bad as I had the previous days.  Somehow, he managed to make it to work, but admitted it was miserable.  I immediately knew I needed to get the older girls to my in-laws for a sleepover so Mate could head straight to bed and I could concentrate on all the tasks on my to-do list.  While I know it was the right decision, I can't help but feel sad that Mia and Ava aren't here to read a Christmas story to, or clothe in Christmas jammies, or search for our Elf with in the morning.  At least I know that they are getting tons of attention from grandparents who love them to the moon and back.  Fingers crossed for a healthy holiday.
