Baby Boutique

Remember that dream I have about opening a bridal consignment shop one day?  Well, I was recently presented with an opportunity to see what the consignment business is all about.  Early last week, I purchased eleven bins of girl's clothing from a mom who was too overwhelmed with a newborn to sort through and sell any of it.  I knew we were taking a bit of a risk, but helping another mom while getting some consignment experience made it seem worthwhile.  At first, going through the bins was like Christmas and I quickly filled a box with items for my girls.  However, separating the clothes into sizes and categories took way longer than I expected.  For a few days, it looked like a tornado came through our house.  Eventually, I was able to contain the chaos, but that was just the beginning of the work.   I spent hours every evening attempting to turn our garage into a baby boutique.  I did have a few moments of frustration when the mom I bought the clothing from kept sending me messages asking for certain items back that she forgot where in the bins.  That wasn't part of the deal, but I gave what she asked for back because it was easier than saying no.  In the end, it didn't matter because my glorified garage sale was a success and I really appreciated all the compliments about how organized everything was.  I can't take all the credit, though.  It is absolutely necessary to thank Mate for supporting me through this little adventure.  I truly appreciate his willingness to have our house turned upside down and do more than his fair share of kid duty.  What we quickly realized is that my job as mom/housewife is more important than anything else and projects like this take me away from my responsibilities.  Sure, the break was nice, but there are no business plans in my immediate future.  It may happen one day, but that day is not today.

Everything sized and displayed according to category
So many shoes
Coats
Since all the shoppers were moms, I made sure to have somewhere for their kids to play
