Check-Up

The girls had their 15-month check-up yesterday (a month late because our pediatrician was on paternity leave).  While waiting in the exam room, Mia and Ava discovered the spinning stool. The giggling was out of control.  They took turn after turn until Mate and I were worn out.  Luckily, the doctor arrived before they were ready for another round of spinning.

Compared to other kids their age, Mia and Ava are small, but that's to be expected.  Our pediatrician is thrilled with their progress and we were thrilled that both girls showed off their walking skills.  They handled their three shots pretty well, too.

Here's what the girls have been up to lately:

1. Mia walked from her Little Gym class all the way to the car yesterday.  Let me tell you, it's a lot easier to hold one in my arms and have the other one walk.  It does take quite a bit longer, but that's okay.

2. Ava stood up from a sitting position without holding on to anything for the first time yesterday.  Mia's been doing this for weeks, so we've been anxiously waiting for Ava to figure it out.

3. Mia can say duck, bubble, book, pop and green.

4. Ava mimics reading books.  She turns each page, follows along with her finger and babbles away.  Reading is definitely their favorite activity.  By 7:30 in the morning, we've usually blasted through 20 stories or more.

5. Climbing on things that shouldn't be climbed on is quickly becoming another favorite activity. How they manage to get themselves up on some of their toys is beyond me.

Just trying to keep these little ladies, safe, healthy and happy one day at a time!
