Hosting a Baby Shower

Yesterday, I was honored to host a Baby Shower for our best friends, Phil and Emily.  They are expecting their first child on the 4th of July and we couldn't be more excited.  Emily loves elephants so I wanted to incorporate them into the shower in some way.  Another friend of mine gave me an idea for the theme: A Little Peanut on the Way.  The lighting wasn't ideal for picture taking and I was too busy to capture much, but here's a look at my latest entertaining endeavor:

Prior to guests arriving

centerpieces
Bags of peanuts as favors with a tag that read: Thank you for showering the peanut
The light made it difficult to get a good picture of the peanut onesie decor, but you get the idea

Prizes for the games: Baby Gift Bingo and the Dirty Diaper Game (melted candy bars).  Phil was also quizzed on some questions Emily answered prior to the party.  Here is what I asked them: What has Emily craved most? Favorite part of being pregnant? Least favorite part? How many kids does Emily want? What is her favorite thing in the nursery? What physical trait of Phil's does she most want the baby to have?  For the record, he was near perfect in his answers!

I also made a Wish Wall for the guests to leave words of encouragement and wisdom
There were little elephants on each paper that matched the favor tags
Dessert Table
Banner above the table

Cake
My first attempt at a cookie cake
Salad Bar
Soup and Sandwich Station
The only picture I managed to get of the parents-to-be.  Doesn't Emily look great?
Everyone has been under the impression that they were waiting to find out the gender of the baby, hence all the neutral decor.  However, we were all in for quite the surprise.  Before Emily and Phil began opening their gifts, they each gave their moms a present.  It took a minute for everyone to realize that the color of the gift represented the baby's gender.  I thought it was such a creative way to surprise all the guests.  It's not my place to share their news, but I will say we couldn't be happier!!!
