Parents on Purpose

I am a planner.  I sometimes joke that my 10-year plan has a 10-year plan.  Mate and I have always known what the next step in our lives was going to be and we like it that way.  After ten years together, we have realized that plans don't always work out exactly as expected.  Most of the time, the unexpected is even better.  Parenting has always been part of our plan.  We wanted 2 years of marriage to ourselves before adding to our family.  We assumed that a baby would arrive in the middle of 2010.  When that didn't happen as easily as we'd hoped, I wasn't exactly sure how to deal with a plan falling through.  So, like every Type A Personality, I began to plan more.  I read, calculated, charted, and even planned what we'd do if none of it worked.  Thankfully after 8 frustrating months, one doctor's appointment, and five tiny pills, we were successful. We definitely became parents on purpose, but having identical, twin girls has been better than anything we could have planned.
