While I have nothing against minivans or the people who drive them (I actually think they are very nice), Mate and I have made a commitment to keep them out of our garage. I fit way too many of the stereotypes associated with minivan drivers. I am an elementary school teacher, turned housewife, turned stay-at-home mom, living on a cul-de-sac in the suburbs. If I drove a minivan, I'd be one step away from holiday sweaters and mom jeans. I am determined not to wear either.
However, when the girls arrived, we realized that we could use a bigger vehicle. Our double stroller doesn't fit in the trunk of either car without some dis-assembly. Since we had already vetoed a minivan and I would prefer not to drive a gas-guzzling vehicle, we are left with one car that we both like: a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. We found one that I really like, but part of my addiction to planning (see 1st post) is saving money. I blame this part of my personality mostly on my grandma and Suze Orman. Since I don't actually need a new car, I am resisting the urge to buy one with such a hefty price tag. It's good to want something. I'll appreciate it more if I wait a little longer. Plus, I get a workout every time the stroller, trunk and I have a run-in.

I have to tell you, Tina, that our son, Carter, felt likewise about a minivan and.... it didn't fit his manly persona. However, before the arrival of child #3, they bought a minivan, which his wife loves and he does too, when he has to take all 3 children. Don't worry, the minivan does not come with Christmas sweaters and mom jeans attached, Carter's wife, Holly, wouldn't tolerate those either.
