On the Run

On Friday, I took the girls to see Sesame Street Live while Mate was at work.  We'd usually do this sort of thing together, but one of us has to put food on the table.  Isn't that such a bummer???  There I was, soaking up smiles and excitement and Mate was working.  He really does get the short end of the stick sometimes.  At least, that's what I was thinking until the kids where told to get out of their seats and dance.  Ava took this as an invitation to make a run for the stage.  I practically threw Eliana from my lap as I lunged for our runaway.  She got scared and started crying....loudly....very, very loudly.  Who's got the short end of the stick, now?  I did my best to comfort her, but the whole episode put quite a damper on her morning.  Even though it was a tough situation, I am so thankful for these moments that balance everything out and to Mate for giving me the opportunity to experience all the ups and downs of parenthood.
