Valentine's Day Our Way

Since the girls were born, we've taken to celebrating Valentine's Day as a family.  February is a busy month and by the time the 14th rolls around, we're tuckered out.  There is usually take-out, a movie and a box of Godiva chocolates.  None of that happened this year.  Mate was pretty shocked when I told him not to buy me the one gift he has been told I will happily accept every Valentine's Day for the rest of my life.  Sometimes, overpriced chocolate just doesn't make sense.  Instead, we bought a ceiling fan and enjoyed our little family:
It seemed like a good day to take the girls to our favorite hometown donut shop
Followed by a trip to check out this progress. One day we'll get to enjoy that view. . .
It only took 3 months and countless hours searching, but we can FINALLY check lighting off our to-do list. Happy Valentine's Day to us!
Crepes for dessert.  It's super cute hearing the girls use the Croatian word for them (palacinke).  Although, the pronunciation and spelling give me trouble.
Finally, we sent our little trio on a scavenger hunt.  They LOVED it.
For their last clue, they had to tell me the magic words "I Love You" to receive their big treat: a box of chocolate covered grapes from Malley's.

Oh, in the middle of all this, Mate had to spend a couple of hours at work in order to make a deadline.
Love is working hard because you have a family that depends on you and it's telling your husband not to feel bad if he doesn't make it home in time for dinner on Valentine's Day.  Love . . . our way.
