Overdue

As of last Saturday, it had been over 19 months since Mate and I spent the night away from our girls.  There are quite a few factors that contributed to our inability to get away, but the blame really falls on Eliana.  As her parents, we've come to accept lack of sleep, but forcing someone else to deal with her overnight seemed unfair.  That all came to an end this weekend when Mate and I dropped the girls off at his parents' so we could spend the night downtown with Anthony (Mate's friend from pharmacy school) and his wife, Carla.  We are very thankful they drove from Michigan to visit and couldn't have had more fun:

We stayed at the aloft hotel (if you're looking for a trendy place, this is a good choice).

We had an AMAZING dinner at Crop Bistro.

Followed by dessert at Sweet Moses (I'm a sucker for the soda-fountain nostalgia).

We spent a bit of time at the casino before ending our evening at the hotel lounge.
This weekend reminded us that we are more than parents and that was much needed.  By the way, my in-laws had no trouble getting our littlest lady to sleep and we are especially thankful for the time they devoted to our girls this weekend.
