Future Home

Deciding not to move forward with the lot we had originally agreed to purchase, left us scrambling to find somewhere to call home.  For about three weeks, Mate and I spent countless hours considering other options.  We knew nothing was going to be as ideal as the first property, so we were prepared to make some concessions.  However, we couldn't convince ourselves to live next to railroad tracks, or power lines, or in a neighboring city, or on a postage stamp size lot.  I was determined to leave no stone unturned during our search.  I contacted the city planner and spent hours cold calling owners of vacant land.  These attempts led to some hopeful moments, but each possibility came with potential problems.  On one of many drives around town, we stopped to look more closely at an awkwardly placed for-sale-by owner sign.  We did our best to decipher the faded phone number and crossed our fingers for good news.  Thankfully, the owners responded within hours and let us know they had an acre of land for sale.  Mate and I took a few days to weigh the pros (an acre of land, woods, reasonably priced) and cons (busier street, same commute time).  After taking that time, we decided this was definitely the best option for us and are now just weeks away from breaking ground.  Hopefully, there are no more set-backs . . .
