Some of my fondest childhood memories are from trips with my grandma and I will always cherish what I remember from our week in Disneyworld, multiple trips to Grandparent's Camp and a culinary excursion through Italy. I feel confident that my cousins and sisters agree that these experiences our grandma made possible for us are priceless. As a way to show our gratitude, we came together to plan a little trip. Whether it required taking off work, flying in from New Orleans, taking time away from studying or leaving children behind, we were committed to spending a weekend with our grandma in Niagara Falls. Here are a few of the highlights:
1. Stopping at the same landmark rest stop that we all loved as children.
2. Listening to a cassette tape of songs from our days at camp.
3. Hearing stories about my grandma's childhood.
4. Watching fireworks above the falls while sipping over-priced martinis that my grandma insisted were terrible, yet worth every penny because we were together.
5. Strolling through Niagara on the Lake, which is just about the most charming place ever.
6. Touring a local winery.
7. Relaxing in the steam room and hot tub.
8. Exploring silly tourist attractions.
9. Sleeping in until 7:00 one morning. After awhile, you forget how nice it is to wake up and only have yourself to take care of.
10. Girl talk.
I'm thinking this should become an annual tradition.
