Sibs Weekend

After our Caring Cubs event last Saturday, I dropped Mate and the girls off at home and began my journey down to Ohio University for Sibs Weekend.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do by myself during the nearly 4 hour drive, but was pretty excited to listen to whatever I wanted or nothing at all.  These days, silence in the car is a luxury.  I made it to the campus in time to watch the 2nd half of OU's basketball game against their rivals.  At one point, I made mention about how exciting the game was and then said I'd probably be having just as much fun watching people crotchet.  Clearly, this time away from my little ladies was needed more than I thought.

We spent the rest of the afternoon strolling around campus and browsing at a few of the local shops.  Even though it was freezing, we covered quite a bit of ground before making it back to my sister's dorm room.  We warmed up a bit and then headed to dinner where we sat for two and a half hours chatting away.  Throughout that time, I kept thinking about how glad I was to be there.  Our evening ended with pajamas and a girly movie.  Although, I hoped to take advantage of my break from parenthood and sleep in, I was up at 5 am.  I would have loved to wait for my sister to wake up and enjoy breakfast together, but the long ride home and my desire to see my little family won out.  My early morning drive back was going well until the roads became covered with snow and cars slowed to a crawl.  Thankfully, I made it back safely and entered a house that was neat, tidy and filled with my favorite people.  Mate said the girls were great and his time as a single parent went smoothly.  However, there is no denying how exhausting the job is since he was snoring on the couch minutes after we put the girls to bed that evening.
