We kept ourselves quite busy over the last four days while Mate was at a conference in Albuquerque. Each time the girls and I are on our own, there's a mixture of emotions. There is sadness because we miss our guy, but also excitement to have some girl time. We break our normal routine, leave the bed unmade, eat macaroni and cheese for dinner and fill our time with fun activities.
At the end of four days, I am exhausted and appreciative. Exhausted for obvious reasons and appreciative for the extra time with our little ladies. Most evenings and weekends, Mate spends time with the older girls while I clean, run errands and/or care for Eliana. He's the bath giver, bedtime story reader, and goodnight kisser. Those are really great parts of the day (most of the time) and I was happy to experience them this week, among many other things. Here's a look at how we kept busy:
Sunday-
| Ava's first time riding a bus |
| Enjoying the Hiram House Pumpkin Festival |
| Mia's first face painting experience |
| Thankful my mom and niece came with us |
| Mia's first time riding a pony |
| Ava loved the pony ride |
In between the big events, there were sweet moments like this:
| Playing together |
| Refusing to return the spoon |
| Making happy faces |
Monday:
| Playing at the library before story time |
| Taking out the garbage since Daddy isn't home |
Tuesday
| Open Play at the Step2 Store |
| More fun at the indoor playground |
Wednesday
| Field Trip to Petitti's Garden Center |
| Planting flowers in pumpkins |
| Making our way through the Haunted Maze |
| Treats from Great-Grandma before Gym class |
This was all fun, but I can't wait for Mate to walk in the door any minute.
