I'm not exactly sure how long this gig as a stay-at-home mom will last, but I plan on keeping it as long as possible. In order to do so, I have to offset my lack of financial contributions with some money saving techniques. A year ago, buying gently used toys to give our kids as Christmas and birthday presents would not have been on my list of things to do. How quickly things have changed! By joining a facebook group of local moms selling to each other, I have accumulated about $900 worth of toys for less than $200. I can't even begin to explain how exciting that is.
Plus, I've slowly started to sell some of our stuff, which helps off-set what I spend. A couple of weeks ago, I was even able to take Mate and the girls out to dinner with some of my mommy money. I loved being able to do that and I'm pretty sure Mate enjoyed it, too. This might just be my ticket to long-term job security.
