I was all set to upload some pictures and talk about our fabulous weekend, but then I remembered a few moments in between the fun parts that weren't so fabulous. After a later than usual outing on Friday night, we were not so happy when the girls didn't fall right to sleep at nap time on Saturday. By the time they finally dozed off, we had to start getting ready to leave the house. I had everything we needed for the evening packed up and the baby was ready for her car seat. Mate and I woke the girls up and attempted to get them dressed. They weren't impressed and that really annoying whining, crying, limp noodle thing started to happen. Ugh, I hate that. Just as we finished struggling to get them clothed, I discovered the baby and her blown-out diaper. I completely lost all patience. Mate quickly asked what he could do to help and my response was that I needed him to get the older girls out of my face. Cringe. Yes, I said that. Loudly. In a not-so-nice tone of voice. I'm not sure if he scooped them up or shooed them out the door, but it got a lot quieter in the house within seconds. I'm not a big fan of losing my patience like that, but luckily we recovered quickly and enjoyed a lovely evening. I could have easily shared all these pictures and left out the mommy confession, but that would be phony and that's worse than an ungraceful moment, in my opinion.

Hmmm. This story only shows that you're human! I guarantee you that every parent on the planet has snarled at their children. Even David, an easy child if there ever was one, knew how to push parental nerves in his formative years.
ReplyDeleteThe evening with the Trimbles must have been great fun!
You should not be ashamed for losing your temper but happy that you can redirect, move ahead, apologize and carry forward. That is what the girl's will need to learn and they will learn it at home long before they leave you. Bravo!
