Family Weekend

Although we are absolutely exhausted from a jam packed weekend, we enjoyed spending it with so many family members:

First, I got to spend time with my cousin who lives in New Orleans.  She's spent years bopping from city to city working on movie sets and music festivals, so we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like.  All her hard work has paid off and our visit was made even sweeter when her phone rang and she was offered a great new job.  I was so glad to be able to share that moment with her.
Cheers to her new job
Early Saturday, we headed to my grandma's to celebrate her 80th birthday.  This special event brought my dad in from Utah and my uncle from Florida. I also loved catching up with my great aunt and uncle who split their time between Iowa and Budapest.  I wish we had more time together, but I'm thankful for the few hours we had.

The girls were excited to have their cousins spend the rest of the day with us and surely enjoyed the pool, playground and ice cream.

My side of the family had their annual reunion on Sunday, which is always an event I look forward to.  Mate took charge of the older girls so I could spend time chatting with family members I don't see often.

We also took a moment to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday in the middle of all the other festivities.

Our last stop of the weekend was to visit with Mate's side of the family.  We weren't sure how well the girls would do after two days without naps, but they were little troopers.

All three of our ladies fell fast asleep on the way home.  Usually they wake up as soon as we pull into the garage, but not this time.  We carried each one up to bed, kissed them goodnight and then flopped onto the couch to enjoy an episode of Breaking Bad.  Monday surely came too quickly, but a weekend full of family is worth a little sleepiness.
