Months ago, my family began planning my little sister's graduation party. Analee didn't know exactly what she wanted, but definitely knew what she didn't want: no cake and no pasta. Since it was clear we wouldn't be relying on our traditional menu items (pasta, italian sausage, chicken cutlets, etc), it took a little bit of brainstorming before we came up with a country barbeque theme. Luckily for me, it was easy to personalize the details (and re-purpose some items I made for my high school reunion):
| Bandana paper lanterns from Oriental Trading |
| Centerpieces made with mason jars, burlap, ribbon, sticks and senior pictures |
| Analee is going to be a math teacher, so we made apple shaped cookies with favor tags written in scientific notation (thanks a million) |
| For dessert, we decided on a pie bar decorated with burlap and hay bales |
We used the mathematical symbol for pi instead of the word
| It's hard to see, but the banner was made with burlap paper (I reused the letters from the reunion banner which made this project quick and easy) |
| We used a clothesline and mini clothespins to display pictures (forgot to take a picture from the front...oops) |
| The graduate with her boyfriend and best friend |
As much as I love the details of a party, I'm definitely glad there is no crafting or favor-making in my immediate future.
