Celebrating 4 Years

Thursday, marked our 4th year of marriage.  This past year has been really busy and we probably didn't spend enough quality time together.  Routine has been great for raising twins, but we've got to figure out how to make time for ourselves part of the routine.  Needless to say, we were both looking forward to a night out.  That is, until the weather forecast warned of severe storms.  I started to worry about my sister driving down to babysit in bad weather.  What if the power goes out while we're gone?  Do we really want to drive downtown, park and then walk to the restaurant in a thunderstorm?  I'm exhausted.  Do I even feel like getting dressed up?  Why is Mia crying so much?  I had plenty of excuses to cancel our plans.  I told Mate I wasn't sure if we should go.  Then, I realized that we had to go.  My hair went up in curlers, I put on a new dress, and used mascara for the first time in who knows how long.  Off we went.

It started down-pouring the minute we got downtown.  Luckily, it was over quickly and we were able to make our reservation at Lola.  For the next hour and a half, we enjoyed what was probably the single-best dining experience we've ever had.  The food, atmosphere, and service were exceptional.  We decided to splurge on a meal instead of buying presents.  That was a great decision (for those of you who read about our "spending free", this was part of our budget).

Not the best picture, but we tried. I swear my hair was curly when we left the house.

After dinner, we headed over to the casino.  Like last time, we won all our money back and then some.  By some, I mean $4, but that's better than nothing.  Holding hands, talking, reminiscing, acknowledging that we need to do this more often...a practically perfect anniversary.
