Art is Subjective, Right?

I had something in mind for our first art project, but I soon realized that Mia and Ava had a better idea.  The first few hand-prints went down nicely and then little hands started banging the canvas like crazy.  Luckily, my philosophy about art and children is that you let them do whatever they want.   As a teacher, I tried not to choose projects that resulted in 25 identical pieces of art.  I'm quite pleased with the one-of-a-kind piece my little artists created.

Luckily, each girl had one hand-print that survived and I was able to label them so we'll know whose it is later.

I'd much rather have fun in the moment than worry about a mess, but that's just me.  I wouldn't suggest you try this unless you are prepared for an hour of clean-up.

  1. Tina, that is amazingly beautiful & special! Just like you & your girls. wow! As for messes, I try to tell myself the same thing when their are toys all over my house. I like the commercial where the mom says, "The bigger the mess, the bigger the imagination & fun they had." : ) I keep trying to tell that to my ocd!
