This past weekend, we celebrated my mom's birthday. I was in charge of the cake and decided to pick one up from an actual cake shop instead of the grocery store. My mom's not someone who cares all that much about desserts, but there is something about a pretty cake that just makes me happy. If I'm responsible for your cake this year, it's going to be pretty because I've decided
life's too short for ugly birthday cakes. However, I think my motto needs to be more specific since it turns out that the taste of this lovely looking confection wasn't all that great (sorry, mom). What was great, though, was spending the evening bowling and celebrating with family:
Cousins
It's been more than a few years since we've gone to a bowling alley as a family because all three girls were terrified of the loud noises. It's nice to have that behind us!
It will probably be a few years until we figure out how to aim properly, though.
