Surprise Trip

In early Spring, we decided to plan a surprise trip to Disney for the girls.  To clarify, by "we", I mean Mate didn't hold me to my promise that we'd take a little break from Disney after last year's visit and cruise.  After months of waiting and countless hours planning, it was time to surprise the girls:
We had their magic bands, a few Mickey themed snacks and a little note wrapped and waiting for them the day before we left.

At first, their reaction was somewhat anti-climactic and there were lots of questions, but the excitement quickly grew.
We had a very early plane ride, which allowed us to arrive in plenty of time to enjoy our first day.

After a quick lunch, we headed to the pool.  Eliana was the first one to try out the water slide, followed by Mia.  Ava is always our most hesitant, so we were overjoyed when she mustered the courage to give the slide a try.  She loved it.
That evening, we headed to another resort for Mickey's Backyard BBQ.  The girls had a great time dancing with the characters and we enjoyed dancing together.

We spent the next day at the Magic Kingdom
They had a great time trying on hats and searching for souvenirs
Mate impressed us all with his high score on this ride
We all enjoyed our breakfast inside Cinderella's Castle
Eliana was over-the-moon excited to meet her new favorite princess, Elena of Avalor
We had a great view for the afternoon parade
and loved watching Eliana when she was chosen to be Chip
They tried the Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest (as the song suggests, it really is delicious).
We've never stayed at the parks late enough to see fireworks because the girls don't like the noise.  This time, we were prepared with noise-cancelling headphones and tickets to the Fireworks Dessert Party, which gave us a great view without needing to fight the crowds.
The girls LOVED it and we had a parenting win!
There was very little down-time, but we used spare moments at the resort and morning bus rides for schoolwork.  I was a little worried about getting everything done, but these girls were diligent! I'm so thankful for their desire to do well in school.
Eliana was shy around the male characters, so I joined in for the Flynn Rider and Prince Charming pictures.

When planning this trip, I knew Eliana would love everything about Bippity Boppity Boutique.  To my surprise, Mia and Ava did, too.  More than the watching the girls enjoy the experience, Mate and I loved listening to Eliana call it "Bippity Boo Baa 'tique" no matter how many times we tried to help her with the pronunciation.

Later that evening, we ate at Raglan Road, where Mia volunteered to go on stage with the Irish Dancers.  She had a blast dancing in front of the crowd.
Our Animal Kingdom Day was filled with earning badges at the Wilderness Explorer Stations and exploring Pandora.
We were thankful for fast passes to ride the newest attraction, which had a wait time of over 3 hours most of the day.  The girls loved the river ride and seeing all the colors of Pandora in the evening.
Our last full day was spent at Epcot and included some great character interactions, a trip to every country in the World Showcase, tickets to see Whoopi Goldberg narrate the Candlelight Processional and two rides on Soarin', which the girls thought was just about the greatest thing, ever.
While in each country, the girls had to search for a Chip and Dale wreath. Once all 11 were found, they received a prize.
With all that fun behind us, it was time to head home.  Well, at least for the Soric Ladies. Mate gets to stay for a few more days thanks to a conference.

While I was confident in my abilities to travel alone with the girls, there was a big sigh of relief when we landed safely back in Ohio.  There was also a big sigh of relief when I told Mate I think I'm Disneyed-Out for awhile.
