When I Grow Up
When I was in 1st or 2nd grade, I remember being in the cafeteria of my elementary school during a PTA meeting. There were a handful of ladies seated at the front of the room. While I don't remember who they were or what they discussed, I vividly remember thinking that I wanted to do that some day. Now, I never dressed up as a "PTA Mom" for Career Day or verbalized it as my dream job, but it was always who I was working to become. I knew I had to have a fall-back plan, so naturally I became an elementary school teacher and thoroughly enjoyed the three years I spent in the classroom. I'm so thankful for the experience and for being able to step away to take on the role I always wanted. I'm writing about this for two reasons. First and foremost, I want my girls to know how important it is to honor who they are and who they want to be, no matter what. Second, I am so proud to be a part of the Solon Early Childhood PTA and am incredibly thankful for the friendships and experiences it has gifted me.
