December: That's a Wrap

I'm one day early, but we're calling it a wrap on December.  Here's how the second half of the month went down:
Mia and Ava were both Student of the Week just before Winter Break. Unfortunately, Ava was out sick most of that time, but Mia sure did enjoy having lunch with her dad.
Thankfully, Ava was better a few days later and we got to enjoy her class party together.
We kicked off their break from school with some Gingerbread House decorating.
They had a great time at the annual Breakfast with Santa organized by my mothers of twins club.
We all enjoyed Wild Lights at the Akron Zoo.
I made sure to keep them busy the week leading up to Christmas.
They managed to spend 5 hours at Play Day Cafe, which I found rather impressive.
There was baking . . .
. . . and cooking
. . . and even some cleaning!

We piled into the car with our pajamas on, stopped for hot chocolate and drove around to look at Christmas Lights.
There was so much excitement on Christmas Eve
We made sure to sprinkle Reindeer food on the snow, so there was no chance Santa could miss our house.
There were Christmas morning hugs . . .

. . . and joy when they received their most requested gift.
There was laughter.  Mia sure does know me well.
After a lovely morning, it was time to prepare for brunch.  Mere minutes before our family arrived, I dropped a quiche on the floor and nearly set off the smoke alarm.  Thankfully, we recovered from the fumbles.
These girls and their grandparents . . . so much love.

So glad these are the people I get to share each Christmas with.
The day after Mia and Ava's birthday, we surprised the girls with an afternoon at The Little Gym.  They were so excited to spend some time at one of their favorite places and we enjoyed running errands kid-free.
We had just enough energy left to celebrate Christmas one more time.
As we wrap up the year, I hope everyone who found 2016 to be a bit of a bummer, enjoys a much brighter 2017.
