Birthday #31

The agenda for my birthday this past Thursday included swimming lessons, doctor's appointments and ballet class (with a little celebrating sprinkled in).  The icing on the cake . . . throw-up . . . lots and lots of throw up.  Okay, we all know that wasn't part of my plan.  Eliana, sweet Eliana, decided my 31st birthday was an ideal time to catch a 24 hour stomach bug.  Such a thoughtful child, right?  I suppose the unexpected made my gift from Mate even more appreciated.  He had my friend, who happens to be a massage therapist, come to the house for an hour of pampering.  Well done, husband, well done.  My friend also brought fortune cookies for all of us in celebration of the Chinese New Year.  My fortune seemed very fitting: record life's events in a journal.  It may not always happen in a timely a manner, but the major moments in our life eventually make their way to this little spot.  Years from now, I won't remember Eliana being sick, but I'll remember this:
Eliana falling asleep on my lap at dinner
 Thoughtful gifts from my girls
and this one holding my face and saying something so sweet it brought tears to my eyes.

Loving these people and being loved by them is a birthday wish come true (throw-up and all).
