My Teammate

It's no secret that I try to build learning into each day with the girls.  Some days I feel like I succeed and others, not so much.  Since I'm the stay-at-home parent, I tend to put pressure on myself to make sure our little ladies are developing in an environment that fosters love, learning and confidence.  Recently, Mate started a little activity with Mia and Ava that I really appreciate and I think Father's Day is the perfect day to make sure he knows.

It goes a little something like this:

Mate says, "Once upon a time, the letter . . ." Then, the girls choose any letter they'd like and he proceeds to tell a story about that letter, allowing Mia and Ava to fill in details along the way.  The letters go shopping, to the zoo, take naps . . . the three of them have quite the imagination.

This may not seem all that significant to most people, but shared story telling is such a great way to support future reading and writing.  When Mate initiated this activity, it reminded me that I have a great teammate and the pressures of being a stay-at-home mom were relieved just a bit. So, a big thank you and a Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy!
