Glad it's a Girl

We always knew that keeping the baby's gender a surprise until delivery day was the right decision for our family.  As I've written before, we didn't care if this baby was a boy or a girl.  Of course people assumed we would want a boy, but that never meant that we didn't want another girl.  What we knew for sure was that whoever was born into our family would be the right fit and I'm happy to report that we were right. Throughout this pregnancy, I wondered what in the world I was going to do if this baby was a boy.  I knew I would fall madly in love with him, but I also knew there would be challenges for me.  Luckily, I don't have to worry about that anymore.

Here are some of the reasons I'm thankful we had another girl:

1. I'm not really interested in things typically associated with boys.

2. We don't have any little boys in the immediate family.

3. My best friends have girls.

4. We have boxes full of clothes for girls.  I was so excited to come home from the hospital, pull out those boxes and begin filling Eliana's closet.

5. Being the dad to three girls probably isn't going to be easy, but I have every confidence that Mate is the right guy for the job.

6. Remember that obsession I have with weddings? Well, I just hit the wedding planning jackpot!  Don't worry, I'll stay true to this blog entry.

7. They say girls are easier to raise than boys, at first.  That works for me since I am the one that is staying at home with them.  At least by the time they get difficult, they'll be out of the house for 7 hours a day.

8. This saying:

I know there will be plenty of moments when I am completely overwhelmed by the three girls, but I'll always be sure that they are exactly who we wanted.
