Last night, Ava woke up around 3:00 in the morning with wet pajamas. To our surprise, her diaper had come loose and we had our first bed-wetting experience. I brought her into our room to get changed and then cleaned up her bed. When I tried to put her back to bed, we began a 2 hour sleepless marathon. By 5:00 a.m. I knew we had to just let her sleep with us. Mate was less than thrilled with my giving in, but I needed at least an hour of sleep before beginning the day.
About an hour into our morning, I realized Mia was all wet. Somehow her diaper had come loose, too. Twice in one day. . .really? I changed her and we went on with our day.
We struggled through about an hour of general crabbiness, which I'm sure was due to a lack of sleep on all our parts. Just as things were looking up, I called the girls to the kitchen for lunch. As I was spooning macaroni and cheese into bowls, I noticed Mia had climbed on the table. It wouldn't have been that big of a problem except she got a hold of a cup of leftover coffee and spilled it. . . all over herself and our Macbook. I got her changed (again) and then turned my attention to the computer. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts and a phone call with the Apple technicians, it no longer turns on. I dreaded calling Mate. To my surprise, he said it was okay and we'd just buy a new one. While I was relieved he had an accidents happen attitude, I'm totally bummed. I hate wasting money and we weren't planning on buying a new computer anytime soon.
I decided this day needed to take a turn for the better. First, I threw together an apple caramel cake for Mate. Then, I called my mom because that's just what you do when you have a bad day. Finally, I dropped everything else that needed to get done, turned on music and danced with my girls. For nearly an hour, we spun around the living room and forgot about all the messes of the day. Oh motherhood . . .
