Boy or Girl?

Okay, those of you who know us well, know that we won't be finding out.  Sorry to those of you who came here expecting some big news.  For Mate and I, there are two reasons we don't want to know what we're having.  First, it's the best surprise EVER!  Nothing compares to the anticipation leading up to the birth and the moment the doctor makes the big announcement.  Second, it doesn't matter what we are having.  We could care less if this baby is a boy or a girl.  So, for anyone who might feel the need to say, maybe you'll have a boy or hopefully this one will be a boy, please don't.  We're not having a third child because we want a boy.  We are having a third child because he or she will complete our family.

Maybe we don't care because we watched our girls struggle to breathe, watched babies in the NICU in far worse condition, tragically watched three friends in the last year lose babies at birth.  For us, it seems selfish to hope for anything other than a healthy baby.  Sure a boy would change things up a bit and give us a new experience. However, we couldn't be any more in love with our girls.  One more little lady would be a gift.

For someone who always thought I wanted at least one of each, I'm thankful that I no longer care.  I am also thankful that Mate feels the same.  There will be no worrying about disappointment or longing.  No pressure to try again.  Whoever we are getting is exactly who we want.
