First Birthday

After the girls went to bed on Christmas, Mate, David and I spent a little bit of time preparing for their first birthday.  I quickly removed all of the holiday decor from our family room while the boys inflated balloons and toys.  The girls won't remember any of this, but it is an important day for our family and deserves to be celebrated.

I must have been anxious for their birthday to begin because I was up before anyone else.  As I waited for the girls to wake, I continually replayed the day they were born in my head.  People keep asking if we can believe an entire year has gone by.  Yes, I can believe it and I couldn't be happier.  To think of where we were a year ago and to see how far they've come makes us so proud.  I've been with them everyday for the last year, made the most of each moment, and documented the memories. Here is how we spent their first birthday:

Good morning birthday girls
Presents
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ball pit
Ava
We decided to take them to Chuck E. Cheese
We weren't sure if they would have fun, but they loved it!
Ava was all about the steering wheel
Playing games and winning tickets
Time to climb through the tunnels
Mia deciding which way to go
Ava was shrieking with joy.
Mia and her birthday cupcake
Ava may not look so happy, but I can assure you she enjoyed every bite of that cupcake
After their bath, we enjoyed their new book
We had the best time with our girls.  Until they can tell us differently, Mate and I have decided to celebrate their birthday with friends and family on the day that they came home from the hospital. Preparations for their rainbow themed birthday party in February have begun:
Mia is excited to be 1 year old
Ava admiring her lollipop
