Eliana's 5th Birthday

Eliana has been looking forward to her 5th birthday from just about the moment her 4th birthday ended. She had a solid week of celebrations, so we're hoping it lived up to all her expectations.
Her birthday is one day after my sister's, so we all met up for a joint celebration last Saturday.

Eliana was particularly thrilled about receiving the Princess Kitchen she's been wanting since Christmas.  We already have a play kitchen, so this wasn't something we were going to indulge her with, but that's what grandmas and aunts are for, right?
She woke up bright and early on her actual birthday and learned, to her disappointment, that she wasn't going to be allowed to open all of her presents within the first minutes of her day.
Thankfully, a morning at school distracted her from the gifts.  She loved sharing treats and I enjoyed  reading a story to her classmates.

Like last year, she chose Panera for lunch.
Instead of a birthday cake, she wanted to make dirt pudding cups from her Shopkins Cookbook.  I'm not sure this concoction needs a recipe, but we followed the steps, nonetheless.
Eliana was gifted some new dance-wear, which she promptly needed to model from atop her "stage".  She was also sporting the bandaids from her 5-year check-up. This girl is ready for Kindergarten!

The next day, we had family over to celebrate one last time.

Eliana also shares her birthday month with her great-grandpa, so we enjoyed celebrating him, too!

This little lady has a way of making people feel loved, which is one of our favorite things about her.  Her sweetness is tempered by just a bit of sass. Combine that with her intense passion for all things "girly" and you might jut find us bracing ourselves for what's to come.
While we have no idea what the future holds, Eliana can be sure that we will love and support her every step, leap and twirl of the way.
