I know you're all going to be shocked when I tell you I volunteered to be the chair of a PTA committee (can't shake that Most Involved superlative from high school). Anyway, Indoor Beautification (aka bulletin board maker) is a good fit for a former teacher, right? Well . . . I'm off my game and totally forgot how time consuming that task is- Mate took a picture so I won't forget again any time soon.
The principal requested a super-hero theme for the main board, so this is what my friend, Allison, and I put together. She was 36+ weeks pregnant and days away from being induced, by the way. I insisted I could handle the job on my own, but I sure am thankful she didn't listen and came to help.
Days later, Mia and Ava got to take a tour of the school and visit their classrooms.
They LOVED the library and can't wait to check-out some books.
Our preparation continued with Parent Orientation last night. Mate and I split up so one of us could be in Mia's classroom and the other in Ava's. Thankfully, they are connected with a small opening in-between because Mate had to sneak over to get a writing utensil from the better-prepared parent. He redeemed himself when I found him helping another parent look up bus numbers.
We excitedly compared notes on the way out of the building. Mate mentioned that Mia's teacher was looking for a volunteer coordinator . . . good thing I was in Ava's classroom or my hand would've shot up so quickly. I'm happy to report I've resisted every urge to email the teacher and offer to fill that position.
We brought home a letter and small gift from each of their teachers, which they were thrilled to receive.
2 days to go . . .
