On Turning 5

We've officially been parents for half a decade.  I could write a book about all the things I've learned in that time, but we'll mark Mia and Ava's 5th birthday with one of the most important lessons we can teach them:

Be graceful as you interact with the world.  Not because you are ladies, but because you are human beings. When you forget to be graceful, be humble.

That's a pretty high expectation for someone just turning five, but there's a whole bunch of potential in those teeny-tiny bodies.

Mia and Ava- here's how we celebrated all that you are and all you are yet to become:

And just like that, we woke-up to 5 year olds. You opened your big present right away (an art desk) and then we headed off to breakfast.  You both read the menu and ordered for yourself. As if that wasn't grown-up enough, you required no assistance cutting your food or putting jelly on your toast.  Might as well start this new year running . . . or jumping.
The next activity on your birthday agenda was Skyzone.
Daddy enjoyed jumping with you while I watched happily from the side.
In the afternoon, there were more presents to open. Eliana was so excited to give you the gifts she picked out all on her own.
You asked for spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and had very specific cake requests: a rainbow cake for Ava and a carrot cake for Mia.

You've got this, girls.  And when you don't, we've got you.
