That Took a Long Time

Decorating this home has been nothing short of a team project and labor of love.  Here's our attempt at what we refer to as modern-rustic:
It took us nearly a month to finish the staircase project, but it was definitely worth the effort.  In the smallest frame, is an intercalary chapter from the Grapes of Wrath.  This was a reading assignment for the class where our relationship began, so it seemed like a fitting way to honor our beginning.
Mate spent hours figuring out the perfect dimensions for our family photo, while I made the Ohio art with nails and string.

Mate created these prints with typewriter keys and newspaper.  The dates represent the beginning of our relationship and our wedding.  It's hard to see, but our initials are the keys at the bottom of the middle picture.

We turned an old window frame into a hallway mirror
I threw this together one afternoon to fill a bare wall . . .
. . . and this is our compromise for displaying things for a short time.  I would post our kids' artwork all over the house. Mate- not so much.
Our most recent and, perhaps, most difficult project.  I lost count of how many different configurations we tried before settling on this.

We're no interior designers, but have enjoyed making this house a home.
