One-on-One

We used to be decently good about taking the girls places one-on-one.  Somewhere between building a house, commuting quite a distance for all their activities and daily life, we let this very important practice slip.  Thankfully, we're getting our act together and each of our ladies enjoyed some time as our "only" this past week.  It started with Eliana, who thoroughly enjoyed her trip to see Cinderella at Playhouse Square.  She wanted to wear her very own Cinderella costume, but I convinced her a respectable pink dress would be a better choice.  I was pleased at how well she sat through the first half and loved watching her become captivated by the performance.  She didn't make it to Act II, but that's okay with me.
She's asked everyday since if we can see Cinderella again.

Ava is our resident artist, occupying herself for hours with crayons, markers, stickers and stamps. On Saturday, Mate got in on the fun and took her for a donut and trip to the craft store.  As they headed to the car, Ava was quite concerned about being separated from Mia. I assured her she'd have fun with her daddy and made a mental note that we need to do this sort of thing more often.  Upon their return, she was all smiles and the proud owner of 2000 dinosaur stickers.

Mia was quite impressed by her sister's choice and wanted me to take her to the same place to buy the same thing.  Thankfully, I convinced her that she'd REALLY like where I was about to take her.  I was right.  Mia's eyes lit up when I brought her to Malley's and told her she could pick out anything she wanted.  That girl loves chocolate with an intensity that may send her into a diabetic coma one day.  She carefully perused the chocolate choices before deciding on four gold coins and a package of peanut butter cups.  There was also quick trip to Target that resulted in some stickers for her, too.

One of the things we love about having three little girls so close in age is that it's easy to find activities that appeal to all of them. However, we realize how important it is to set aside time to discover and celebrate their differences.
