Light up the Night

Mate and I thought it sounded like a good idea to spend our last New Year's Eve before turning 30 doing something that involved more than take-out and a fake celebration with the kids at 7:30 pm.  Not that we haven't enjoyed those moments, but going out this year felt like a now-or-never opportunity. With loving grandparents ready and willing to watch the girls, we were free to plan away.  Our evening started with dinner at Edwins (thanks to our friends Phil and Emily for their recommendation).  It's fancy and French and worth every penny.  Here is a bit about the restaurant straight from their website:

EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute is a unique approach at giving formerly-incarcerated adults a foundation in the hospitality industry while providing a support network necessary for a successful reentry. EDWINS goals is to enhance the community of Cleveland’s vulnerable neighborhoods by providing its future leaders. Our mission is to teach a skilled trade in the culinary arts, empower willing minds through passion for the hospitality industry and prepare students for a successful transition into the world of business professionals.

If you're in the area, I highly recommend supporting this great initiative.
Can I have my coffee served like this all of the time, please?
After dinner, we contemplated going to the big NYE in CLE party downtown.  Standing in the freezing cold for hours listening to performers that we have no interest in just isn't our idea of a good time, though.

Instead, from the comfort of our cozy room at the Glidden House, we counted down to midnight surrounded by computer screens and home plans.  We made some serious progress selecting lights for our new house and, to us, that's a pretty great way to spend New Year's Eve.

We're REALLY looking forward to what 2015 has in store for our family.
