I see this blog as one big love letter to my children. Some day they may read it. I want them to know how much they were wanted, how much joy they bring to our lives and that they challenge us to be better people.
Today, more than anything, I want them to know how much they are loved by their daddy.
He was the first person by your side in the NICU. Everyday, he held you for as long as he was allowed. You both fit in the palm of his hand. He made sure you were safe.
He plays with you, reads to you, laughs with you, sings to you, cares for you, loves, loves, loves you.
If you grow up and want to marry someone like your daddy, I won't be surprised.
I think the best gift we can give on Father's Day is a promise to love and respect him. For now, that means lots of kisses and listening when he asks you to get off the arm of the couch. Later, it will mean letting him kiss you before you leave for school and listening when he says to clean up your room. In the future, it will mean spending time with him even when your friends are more appealing and refraining from rolling your eyes when he makes decisions you don't like. It won't always be easy, but I'm pretty sure that's all he wants or needs.
Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy!

"For now, that means lots of kisses and listening when he asks you to get off the arm of the couch." Adorable.
