My Birthday Part 2

I celebrated my birthday with family last weekend, so yesterday it was just the four of us.  Mate thought I'd want to do something without the girls, but that's just not my style.  All I really wanted to do was get my hair cut (for the first time since April) and go out to dinner. Luckily, Legacy Village was having a family event, so Mate was able to keep the girls occupied while I was at the salon.  The good thing about waiting so long in-between appointments (or going on my birthday) is that I don't feel so bad about splurging just a bit.  The mini facial, hand/arm massage and make-up touch-up that accompanied my hair cut were very much appreciated.  Not to mention, the smell of Aveda products just makes me happy.

After my appointment, I met back up with my little family and headed over to the Cheesecake Factory.  We didn't anticipate such a long wait, but managed to keep the girls happy until we were seated.  They did well considering it was an hour past their usual dinner time.  We did our best to keep them occupied, but Mate and I exchanged knowing glances more than once.  It wasn't relaxing, there was little conversation, and we only made it halfway through our meals before calling it quits.  I refuse to be "that family".  Perhaps I'm a bit crazy, but the evening was exactly what I wanted.  My daily life consists of interrupted conversations, food on the floor, spilled milk and more joy than I could have ever imagined.  The only difference on my birthday was that I didn't have to make the dinner or clean up the mess.  I'd say that's a great present.

The girls were fast asleep by the time we got home.  After putting them to bed, I got to open presents.  I had only asked for a sweatshirt from the university where Mate teaches, so I was surprised by multiple gift bags.  In addition to the desired sweatshirt, I also received a hoodie and sweatpants.  I feel very lucky to have a husband who contributes to my stay-at-home mom wardrobe.  Don't worry, I never go out of the house in sweatpants.
I changed into my newly acquired comfy outfit and ended the day with a treat from White Flower Cake Shoppe and The Ides of March (highly recommend this movie).  Mia and Ava surprised me with an extra present this morning by sleeping an hour later than usual.  They are so thoughtful!

Yum!

Look who just woke up.  Yes, we put them to bed in their clothes.  I think it's okay to slack just a bit on your birthday.
